How much lead time is needed for scheduling a production?
It depends on the complexity of your production. Is it a simple recording, with one speaker? Will you require a 2 camera production? You will find some examples of the various levels and lead times here: http://www.ltrc.mcmaster.ca/its/dvservices.htm#level1
Please book your record with as much notice as possible so we can be certain that we can accommodate your request.
You should also provide an outline of what your project is about and if possible, be available throughout the production process for any consultation.
| There are 4 main phases in a video production: |
 |
Pre-production: research, planning and scripts |
| |
Planning is the most important factor when producing
a video. Outline the key elements that will be covered and include any materials you wish to use. For example, slides, graphics, interviews etc.? |
 |
The shoot: taping your project onsite |
| |
We require approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour (depending on the complexity) to setup, move furniture, check lighting levels, etc. We will discuss this during your consultation since a site visit may be necessary. It all comes together at this stage! It is time to follow the script
and get the raw footage shot! |
 |
Post-production: editing the raw footage |
| |
This is the point where all the planning and execution pays off!
Each scene is edited into the master tape; all graphics, slides,
video clips and audio are assembled, according to your script.
You can view the program, and make any changes at this point. |
 |
Replication and Delivery |
| |
The final step is to provide you with your final program on the media of your choice: either CD, Window Media, QuickTime, MP3, MP4, Real, MPEG, and DVD. |
How much does it cost?
You will find some examples of possible service levels and costs on our main services page at http://www.ltrc.mcmaster.ca/its/dvservices.htm#level3
Although we have outlined 3 levels of video production, these are only examples.
During the initial consultation, we will discuss all your requirements and can provide you with a written quote.
